The town of Aurora, located in Central York Region, is a quirky quaint town, with a great sense of community. Home to some of York Region’s most popular local shops, restaurants and recreational trails, Aurora has something unique to offer to each of its residents.
Whether you’re new to town or looking for ways to support local in your community, here are some of my favourite spots located across historic Aurora:
State and Main Kitchen and Bar, conveniently situated on the south end of Aurora, offers fresh made, hand-crafted food & a unique list of beers and spirits. An inviting, easy going lounge, coupled with its family friendly dining side, offers something special for each guest. So whether you’re in search of a North American fan favourite or a twist on Asian cuisine, State and Main has something to please all palates & is certainly the sign of good times.
The Hurst Bakery, owned and operated by Lee and Pauline Hurst, has been serving up quality baked goods to the Aurora community for over 30 years. Their range of pastries, breads, cookies and pies are made from the finest and freshest ingredients, baked daily in house. With fan favourites such as rosemary and onion bread, cinnamon bread, gingerbread groom, focaccia and artisan sourdough, it is no wonder Hursts has been recognized for their taste of quality since 1986.
Located on the southwest side of Aurora, Tina’s Grill is the place to go where everyone knows your name. Across town, Tina’s is recognized for their award winning wings and their commitment to using the freshest and most authentic ingredients. Since Sam and Harry took over in 2019, Tina’s Grill has become the go to family spot.
If you’re in search of a personal shopping experience, Dekade is Aurora’s one-of-a-kind boutique, offering a unique collection of clothing for women and men. Dalia, owner and designer at Dekade, hand picks each beautiful and unforgettable clothing item, to ensure those she serves live both stylishly and comfortably.
Vic’s Shoe Repair, a family owned and operated business since 1974, is Aurora’s go-to spot for shoe repairs, skate repairs, leather repairs, skate sales and more! Located in the southwest corner of Aurora’s downtown core, Vic’s offers several professional services for their guests to choose from. With community and customer satisfaction always in mind, Vic’s strives to provide the best service to the residents of Aurora.
With its combination of urban amenities and its small town feel, Aurora has something to offer everyone. So whether you’re exploring the variety of shops and cafes or dining in at a local restaurant, you’re always in good company in the town of Aurora!
