I am talking about Garage Sales! That’s right, it’s that time of year again folks. Spring cleaning and de-cluttering; it’s always something that leaves you feeling lighter and less stressed. Antique hunters, budgeters, minimalists, artists, to name a few, adore Garage Sale season! Just because something in your home no longer serves it’s purpose for you, does not mean it won’t brighten up someone else’s space! Garage Sales are great opportunities to look for that statement piece, or the perfect piece of furniture to compliment your style. It’s a treasure hunt for people of all ages!
As much as we appreciate our parent’s hand-me-downs, it doesn’t always work for us… and that’s ok! It’s the thought that counts. After all, you are your own person and want to create a cozy atmosphere which coincides with your own personal style. You want to be able to enjoy your workspace, get the creative juices flowing, and feel good in that space every single day. After all, you spend a lot of time there!
Maybe you have a snazzy piece of furniture that you longer benefit from, an old record player, or a pile of Grandma’s old vintage dishes that are collecting dust. Maybe you’ve had your eye on that new sofa and are ready to retire your current one? Just because it’s no longer working for you, it is guaranteed to work for someone else!!! How cool is that? You know what they say, “One man’s junk, is another man’s treasure”, and it is absolutely true! That missing piece you’re thinking to get rid of, is what someone else may have been longing for! Remember, give to receive! Whatever you do, make sure you obtain a permit for holding a garage sale from The Town of Georgina, before you host one.
If you don’t have enough stuff to accumulate an entire Garage Sale, talk to your neighbours, or friends around town. Chances are, they have some things they would like to see gone as well. The more hands the merrier! Other options to buy or sell are: VarageSale, Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, to name a few. You can usually find things for free on there too! Use your resources, and let’s make the treasures go ‘round!
Another cool thing that Georgina offers is Curbside Giveaway! On Saturday, May 25th from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. you can put your unwanted items at the end of your driveway, where residents and neighbours can come around to collect things in need! It’s free of charge.
