Why Move To Georgina?

You might have heard of Georgina in passing but let me tell you, it is quickly becoming the place to live and love in South Central Ontario. As home prices continue to rise within the GTA, the entire area known as Georgina has become quite attractive for affordability and proximity to the city of Toronto for families that are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

So why move your family to Georgina you might ask? Well, I moved from midtown Toronto, just a bit further North to Aurora and finally landed in Jackson’s Point, which is an area within Georgina.

Georgina is the Northern most municipaliity of York Region and boasts some of the most spectacular sites and activities that South Central Ontario has to offer. Although incorporated as a town, it operates as a township, in which dispersed communities share a common area. The largest communities are Keswick, Sutton and Jackson's Point. Some of the smaller communities within include Pefferlaw, Port Bolster, Belhaven, Baldwin, Virginia, Udora and Willow Beach. The entire communities population consists of about 45,000 people.

Georgina is nestled on the shores of the stunningly beautiful Lake Simcoe known for its recreational activities. In the winter, it freezes over completely and hosts a number of ice fishing competitions, making it one of the most intensely fished lakes in Ontario. In the summer, fishing is still an attraction; however, it is also host to boaters, jet-skis, stand up paddle boarders and other water recreation. The lake is surrounded with summer cottages which are quite desirable. At the Jennifer Jones Team, we specialize in selling these particular waterfront properties which range in price and amenities. Please check out our website at www.jj.team for some of our featured listings lining the shores of Lake Simcoe.

There are many surrounding beaches which attract visitors from all over the GTA. Some of them include De La Salle, Willow Beach, Franklin Beach. One of the perks about being a resident of Georgina is that you can obtain a Resident Parking Pass, which allows you to park for free at all the surrounding municipal parks instead of paying the costly daily rates. There are also seven yacht clubs for sailing around the lake, which host a number of regattas. Georgina is also home to Sibbald Point Provincial Park which has a lovely beach for day use and an overnight campground.

Some of the other attractions in Georgina include The ROC, York Region’s Adventure Headquarters – Recreational Outdoor Campus, where you can ski, snowboard, tube, tobaggan, and skate in the winter and splash, bike, climb, play soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball and tennis in the summer. Residents save a significant amount on memberships and camps! The Briars Resort and Conference Centre is nestled on idyllic grounds in Georgina where you can get away and relax at the spa, take in a game of golf and enjoy many recreational activities.

The list of attractions goes on and on including the Georgina Arts Centre and Gallery, the Georgina Pioneer Village and Archives, the Georgina Military Museum, The Stephen Leacock Theatre, the Sutton Fair & Horse Show, Snowfest, not to mention the multitude of sports clubs and agricultural clubs and volunteer associations.

With all of these attributes that Georgina has to offer, why not contact us at the Jennifer Jones Team to get in on all the action! It’s time to make a move to paradise in Ontario!
