Did you know – there is a local contest for Georgina residents AND non-residents, that runs all the way until September 9, 2019? It’s a community event that is free of charge, and open to all ages. If you are outdoorsy, and like to take pictures, this contest is for you!
There are 3 categories of photos that will be judged:
1. Parks and green spaces
We are lucky enough to have an abundance of Greenspaces all around Georgina. We have public parks and beaches (De La Salle and Willow Beach to name a couple), a leash-free Dog park, the ROC (Recreational Outdoor Centre). The opportunities of photos you can take at these places alone are endless! Kids playing sports, having a picnic at the beach, splash pads, pets in a natural scenery.
2. Instagrammable Georgina
What in your eyes is so special about the place we call home? They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So, if a picture could tell a story about how you perceive home, figure out what it is that you love so much and get creative! Maybe it’s Lake Simcoe; fishing, boating, enjoying the sunset at the beach? Or is it the sense of community, greeted by familiar faces wherever you go? Whatever it is, figure out that “why” and photograph some special memories that you can share with friends everywhere!
3. Summer Events
The last category is one that is enjoyable for everyone; getting out to partake in summer events around the community!
One event this summer, is the 164th annual Sutton Fair, and if you have lived in Georgina for long, chances are this is a recurring event for you and your family in the summer. Street food, games, contests, tractor pull and more! It’s fun for all ages!
If you are big on supporting the community and shopping local, another great one to check out is the Georgina Farmers Market, every Sunday, from 9am to 2pm. The market features over 30 vendors of a wide variety of produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, honey, crafts, clothing, and so much more! You can find it all here, and the best part about it? It’s all LOCAL. Who doesn’t love supporting our local businesses?!
