4 Steps To An Energy Efficient Home!

Updated: Jan 15, 2020

Increasing the energy efficiency of your home is a win-win for both the environment and your bank account. Here are 4 easy and inexpensive ways to increase your homes energy efficiency today!

Meal prep and batch cook.

Heat the oven up once, then cook more than one meal! Not only will you make the most out of having the oven on, you’ll also thank yourself tomorrow when dinner is ready in half the time, with a fraction of the effort and cleanup!

Switch it off and save.

When appliances are left plugged-in or on standby, they still pull power. This is called phantom power consumption and can easily be eliminated by using a surge protected power strip with an on/off switch. Just plug your appliances and devices into the strip and switch the power off before leaving the house and going to bed.

Invest in a programmable or smart thermostat.

These thermostats make it so easy for you control when and how long you're heating your home. By programming different temperature settings at different times throughout the day, you won’t be wasting energy heating an empty home!

Make It Air Tight.

One of the greatest causes of lost energy in any home is the loss of heated or cooled air. Eliminating air leaks is quick and easy though! Caulk, seal and/or weather strip around all windows, doors, and openings to the outside. This step alone can save you as much as 10%-20% on your heating and cooling bills.
